Montmartre

The 18th district of Paris is also called Montmartre. The hill in the north of the town is the highest peak of Paris. With its breathtaking view from the steps of Sacré Coeur (1919) all over Paris, its hidden vineyards and small streets with precipitous stairs and romantic places, Montmartre magically attracts painters since centuries. Thus, famous artists such as Picasso, Dali, Toulouse-Lautrec and van Gogh (1886-1888) have lived and worked at different ages in this part of Paris.

Today, Paris is a very popular destination for tourists. Beside the white basilica Sacré Coeur, the Place du Tertre is one of the most famous sights of Montmartre.
